Community Hospital of Long Beach (CHLB) has been providing quality healthcare to the city of Long Beach and surrounding communities for over 80 years. We are currently seeking an individual to assume the position of Controller.

The Controller will provide direct operational leadership and direction for CHLB’s finance function which includes accounting, payroll, accounts payable, business office, internal and external financial reporting, the preparation of the operating and capital budgets, the treasury management process, Medicare, MediCal and third party reimbursement, and responsibility for establishing and maintaining sound financial internal controls to ensure data integrity and related regulatory compliance. The professional we are seeking must have proven leadership abilities and be well versed in GAAP accounting practices related to financial statement integrity.

In addition to proven expertise in the area of responsibility previously identified, we are looking for a highly skilled hospital financial professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to make a positive impact to our outstanding not-for-profit free standing community hospital. This highly visible position requires a BA or BS degree, and a minimum of five years of progressive acute care hospital finance experience. The successful candidate will also have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, excellent computer skills, and prior experience in managing a finance department which includes A/P, payroll, and accounting. Prior experience with hospital business office operations to include A/R is strongly preferred. Experience with a public accounting firm and knowledge of Siemens Med Series 4 is also preferred, but not required.
