 CHLB Foundation Community Hospital of Long Beach's (CHLB) philanthropy began with a charitable gift in 1924 from then-Long Beach Mayor Fillmore Condit. His spirit of generosity continues today through the programs and activities of the CHLB Foundation, which was started in 1972 by Jess Grundy. The Foundation has a long and prestigious tradition of supporting the hospital’s mission of providing the finest care available to our patients. Its vigorous response to the hospitals needs has funded every major expansion, renovation and capital equipment purchase since the 1970’s. The Foundation gives donors from all walks of life the opportunity to exercise their abundant spirits of generosity and caring for the hospital. The CHLB Foundation raises funds through a variety of outstanding programs including planned giving, capital campaigns, support groups, special events and grantsmanship. The Foundation also identifies and cultivates those donors (individuals/families) whose philanthropic interests coincide with the hospital’s programs and services.
